A chance to meet and learn from other young women in STEM from across the country, gain some leadership training and also to influence the next academic year of a Stemette life for others. We’ll organise your transport & accommodation (for those based outside of London) - there will also be the opportunity to join virtually. Of course, in true Stemette fashion, there will be free food and lots of fun.
Applications will open for the October Academy sessions close at 11.59 on 15th October 2017.
What you'll learn
We'll be running up to 2 one-day sessions during the October half-term.
- Between 16th & 20th October
- 23rd October
Let us know which dates you'll be able to make when applying. Successful applicants will be given specific dates.
We'll be hosting these sessions at easy to access locations across London. Our partners Salesforce, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Plexal have offered to host sessions and provide volunteer role models.
Those unable to travel (e.g. based outside of the country or very remotely) will be able to join remotely via Google Hangout/Zoom or Skype. We'll send joining instructions for each day and will ensure that you get a full experience, although we can't promise free food! You'll need a good internet connection in order to have a good experience.
Stemillions clubs are run in schools, local communities and in homeschool groups by young women. This course is for anyone who already runs a club or is planning to run a club in the coming term or school year.
University/college students are also able to run clubs for younger years, up to the age of 21.
The target age for the clubs is 10 - 18 years old.
This is a draft of the schedule for the day. It runs from 10am until 4pm. There will also be regular breaks and (where possible) a tour of the host company's offices.
- 10 am: Registration, Breakfast & Icebreakers.
- 11am - Session A
- 11.55am - Session B
- 12.40 - 1.15pm - Lunch & tour
- 1.15pm - Session C
- 2.05pm - Session D
- 3pm - Session E
- 3.45pm - Close & Certificates
- 4pm - Home time
You won't need to bring much. We can supply laptops, pen and paper for you to use on the day and will provide refreshments. If you have any items you'd like to bring along to show what you've created in your club that's fine too.
This programme is supported by Accenture, Salesforce & Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
