August almost done, now we’re back to school

We’ve had a ball this August. Not only has the weather genuinely amazing, but we’ve also been able to get about 80 girls up and down the country coding over the Summer. We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of the Big Stemettes who have got stuck in this Summer – on our ‘Digital Literacy’ tour with UK Youth & Microsoft and at our big ‘Stemettes Hack the Barbican’ event. It’s been 6 months since the project kicked off and boy has a lot happened! Not only have we had a serious heatwave, with UK temperatures reaching their highest for 7 years and accompanying thunderstorms but we’ve also welcomed a few new arrivals (congrats Kate!) to the team. In addition to Sonia Meggie (Inspirational Stemette), Lydia Monnington & Fahran Wallace (Hackathon Stemettes) Jacquelyn Guderley & Sophie Drouet (Blogging Stemettes), Michelle Brook (Policy Stemette) and Debbie Jelenke (Event Stemette) we welcome Marily Nika (Uni Stemette) who will be working on our links with Universities. On Thursday, 8th of February, I had the privilege to participate at the Stemette panel with some very amazing ladies – with a long string of PhDs and contributions to the Large Hadron Collider (@suziesheehy and @m_windridge), others who are breaking ground in Energy (@JazRabadia) or can point to the Shard and say I made that (@selinapavan).
