#MonsterConfidence came back with a bang! We kicked off the 2018 Monster Confidence tour in London at Here East on Tuesday, October 16th and wow where do we begin? Around 450 girls and young women came along to our largest event of the year.
First up was the amazing Florence Adepoju, who gave a keynote speech that set the tone for the day – one of inspiration, excitement and STEM.
We had a range of workshops on topics like Presentations and Online Profiles delivered by Monster.co.uk. Attendees participated in Speed Networking, Mentoring & Mock Interviews with professionals from across the STEM industry. We also had a panel with STEM professionals speaking about their journeys, sharing their wisdom and advice about how to be confident. Panellists included:
- Kadine James, Hobs 3D
- Sarah Howard, Westfield
- Cristina Diaz Cachero, Ford
- Di Black, EY
- Chantelle Edwards, ASOS
- Sasha Kotovis, KPMG
For the first time this year, we had professional photographers at the event doing free headshots for the girls to use in job applications, CVs and to build their professional profiles.
What better way to end the day than with a keynote speech from the incredible Baroness Martha Lane Fox CBE? Martha’s powerful speech left us all in awe and feeling inspired.
We caught all of the crazy, #STEMtastic fun from the day, on our Twitter.

One young lady mentioned that the best thing she learnt at the event was “we are who we are for a reason and we should do what we love”. Another girl commented that the day had opened her eyes to the variety of jobs in STEM, stating that she learnt “how much more options there are in STEM for my future”.
Thank you to our hosts Here East, Prize Partners ASOS and Hobs 3D and Candy Kittens for being our sweets provider. Of course, big thanks to Monster for being the star of the show. For more details about the tour, visit monsterconfidence.co.uk
