Holly’s a Stemette who started her journey in 2016 as a Sherpee (Stemettes’ Mentee) on our more than just a mentoring programme Student to Stemette, sponsored by Deutsche Bank. Holly’s Sherpa (Stemettes’ Mentor), Anne, supported Holly’s STS journey in cohort 4 and afterwards Holly signed up to become a Sherpa herself. Stemettes hosted 44 people at the UST Global Hack, of which 27 girls learnt HTML and used Appinventor or Glitch to build their own apps. We teamed up with UST Global on the 28th and 29th October to run a two-day hackathon in Leeds.
At Meet the Stemettes @ Just Eat on the 23rd October 2019 we were joined by 39 girls. The girls got to explore STEM apprenticeships, A-level choices, university degrees and work experiences.
Stemettes invited 50 girls to create their own app. We took over The Gherkin in London and hosted a two-day hackathon in partnership with DXC Technology. The girls aged 5-22 learnt the basics of HTML and UX design.
Stemettes partnered with TD Securities on the 15th October, inviting 25 school girls on a tour of the TD Securities office and a panel of role models.
Stemettes teamed up with BAE Systems on the 11th October to run a STEM Goals session with 45 girls. The girls learned HTML and used Glitch to make a website about cybersecurity.
Stemettes hosted 58 girls (with some boys too) aged 5-22 to attend the Stemettes Hack London @ Rise. Our young coders learnt how to build an app.
On the 31st July, the Stemettes invited 61 girls aged 13 years old and above to a career panel event with seven amazing women in STEM.
Stemettes partnered with KPMG and invited young women in their second or final year of university to find out what a day-in-the-life is like working in Technology.
