Stemettes teamed up with UST Global on the 28th and 29th October to run a two-day hackathon in Leeds.
We hosted 44 people at the event, of which 27 girls learnt HTML and used Appinventor or Glitch to build their very own apps! The girls were grouped into teams to present their apps on sustainable shopping.
We received great feedback from our attendees:
- Attendees rated the event a 9 out of 10.
- 100% of attendees would like to come again.
- 81% of attendees are interested in coding in the future.
- 88% of attendees shared their perception of STEM careers has improved by 88%.
The girls also stated their favourite part of the hackathon was ‘coding and making new friends’. Another attendee shared ‘I really enjoyed it and learnt a lot. I will come again, thank you – the volunteers were great!’.
A big thank you to UST Global for this wonderful hackathon in Leeds and the generous echo dot prize for our winners.
A massive thank you to our amazing volunteers for all their help trailblazing these girls into STEM careers!
