During Coronavirus lockdown we’ve been reminiscing about our Stemettes Future Summit. Our summits took place in both Chester and London in July 2019, and we hosted 200 attendees. On July 11th 2019, in partnership with Bank of America we hosted the first Stemettes Future Summit in Chester. We were joined by 50 girls from local schools, including the Catholic High School Chester and Co-op Academy Bebington. The girls rated Stemettes Future Summit: Chester 8.9 out of 10. Meet the Stemettes @ LGIM Panel
On Saturday 23rd November, we partnered with LGIM again for another ‘Meet the Stemettes’ panel event. We hosted 54 girls, and 62 people overall, who listened to our panellists share their journeys into STEM. The girls later joined a speed networking session where they received advice about how to get into STEM career. So we collected feedback from the women in STEM session, and the girls rated the event 7.9 out of 10! Stemettes response to Covid-19
Due to concerns over COVID-19, Stemettes will be postponing any physical events until mid-August. Health, Safety and Wellbeing for society, our community and our team is our top priority – alongside providing support for girls and nonbinary young people considering STEM careers. During this time, we’ll be running a series of online events for our community across the Stemette Society and our social channels for 12 weeks. Stemettes Hack @ UST Global
Stemettes hosted 44 people at the UST Global Hack, of which 27 girls learnt HTML and used Appinventor or Glitch to build their own apps. We teamed up with UST Global on the 28th and 29th October to run a two-day hackathon in Leeds.
Meet the Stemettes @ Just Eat
At Meet the Stemettes @ Just Eat on the 23rd October 2019 we were joined by 39 girls. The girls got to explore STEM apprenticeships, A-level choices, university degrees and work experiences.
Stemettes Hack London @ DXC Technology
Stemettes invited 50 girls to create their own app. We took over The Gherkin in London and hosted a two-day hackathon in partnership with DXC Technology. The girls aged 5-22 learnt the basics of HTML and UX design.
STEM Goals @ TD Securities
Stemettes partnered with TD Securities on the 15th October, inviting 25 school girls on a tour of the TD Securities office and a panel of role models.
STEM Goals @ BAE Systems
Stemettes teamed up with BAE Systems on the 11th October to run a STEM Goals session with 45 girls. The girls learned HTML and used Glitch to make a website about cybersecurity.
