Experiences change perceptions! If they say a picture is worth a thousand words then a career experience is worth a thousand pictures. Think about it, you cannot strive to achieve something that you know little to nothing about. If we want to encourage more young women to choose STEM career paths we need to ensure they explore that STEM-lifestyle first for themselves. Check out Sonia’s Stemette Work Placement experience with Dow Jones below: Special Thanks, My special thanks go to Grant. Thank you very much for providing me with this great experience. It has helped me a lot and I […]

In no less than 117 days we are off to the world’s largest gathering of women technologists at the Grace Hopper Celebration in Orlando! We’re taking our 2019 #FabFive winners from our Student to Stemette mentoring programme. Check out who they are here and stay tuned with us via our Twitter and Insta to follow their journey. So, students interested in gaining more STEM life experience and career knowledge apply online and get matched with a woman from the STEM industry for a minimum of four months. Here’s a snapshot of what they gain on the programme: Sherpees (Stemettes Mentees) […]

Sharmin, 16, is studying A-levels in Maths, Physics and a part of our Student to Stemette programme. She was one of five participants selected to attend Dreamforce in San Francisco from Nov 4 to 11 2017. Through the Student to Stemette programme (a non-profit organisation to encourage young women to pursue STEM careers), I attended the Dreamforce 2017 event held by Salesforce, the “worlds most innovative company according to Forbes”. Dreamforce was a place where many companies came together to share, experience, learn from each other and develop. From pitches to dens to start-ups, keynotes, parties, and discussions, ‘jam-packed’ cannot […]

Kelsey, 20, is studying for a degree in Computer Science at Aston University and a part of our Student to Stemette programme. These are excerpts from her Tumblr post. She was one of five participants selected to attend this year’s Dreamforce in San Francisco from Nov 4 to 11 2017. Thanks to Stemettes and Deutsche Bank, me and 4 other ladies were flown out to San Francisco to attend Dreamforce 2017! This blog post is going to be a run down of everything that happened, how awesome it was and how you could be flying off next year to attend a conference with […]

We’re more than proud of our Student to Stemette ‘more-than-mentoring’ programme and everything our ‘Sherpees’ achieve. From winning Undergraduate of the Year Award for Innovation to becoming Arkwright Fellows. From observing industry on the programme to entering industry and coming back to support the programme. We’re incredibly lucky to be able to support so many young women as part of Deutsche Bank’s Born to Be Citizenship programme. This year, for the third time we took 5 Sherpees on a trip to a tech conference in the US. Dreamforce is the annual conference of Stemettes’ long-term partner Salesforce – a celebration […]

It’s been 3 years since we started our Student to Stemette programme. To celebrate all the work done with young STEM women in partnership with Deutsche Bank Citizenship and their Born to Be programme, we’re running a blog series sharing what Sherpees have gained and been doing whilst being on the programme. This week it’s Tahanni who was part of the London Cohort 5. Her Sherpa (mentor) was Kerry-Ann from Salesforce who is a Technology Consultant. When reflecting on my Student to Stemette experience I thought about how much I’ve grown from the first day of meeting my amazing, inspirational […]

A problem shared is a problem halved Four cohorts have been through our ‘more than a mentoring programme’ in it’s first year. That’s a total 130 women that have joined the Stemettes network across Birmingham and London. So, naturally, we had a party to celebrate! We are so ready! 😆 #snacks #girlsinSTEM #graduation #party pic.twitter.com/XYMxL6FYHp — Student to Stemette (@StudentStemette) January 24, 2017 65 young women interested in STEM have successfully leapt off our springboard into a mentoring relationship – what have we learnt? 1.
