International Women’s Day @ G-Research

To celebrate International Women’s Day this year, we partnered with G-Research to host a panel at their London office. 38 girls attended the event and engaged in a panel and a speed networking session with guest panellists and G-Research volunteers.

We hosted 8 panellists, including our very own Head Stemette Anne-Marie Imafidon. Other panellists included Jennifer Byrne, Sam Rouse, Rachael Baig, Ellie Houshanpour, Aamirah Essof, Emma Mulhall and our Mystery Man Christoph Bergemann.

The panellists shared their insights on their career journeys in STEM and answered questions asked by the attendees. The girls at this event were from 4 different schools and we had some attendees join us from Stemette Society.

We received amazing feedback from this ‘meet the Stemettes’ event and the girls rated the event overall an 8.5/10!

  • 96% of attendees would like to take part in another Stemettes event
  • 96% of attendees stated an improvement in awareness of STEM careers
  • 92% of attendees stated an improvement in confidence in pursuing STEM subjects

When we asked our attendees what they thought of the event, they said:

“Everything was amazing. Time flew so fast and I enjoyed every volunteer and adult. The questions and advice were inspirational, helpful and fun. Thank you!!!”

“I really enjoyed the panel as I got to find out what each person had to do to get to where they are today.”

During the speed networking session the attendees enjoyed pizza, keeping to the strict rules of Stemettes events: Free, Fun and Food! During the panel, attendees are asked to complete a worksheet in order to win a prize. At this event, we had 4 winners of a snazzy Bluetooth Speaker and a Water bottle!

A massive thank you to G-Research and our amazing group of volunteers for trailblazing more girls into STEM careers and celebrating International Women’s Day with us. To keep up-to-date on our upcoming events, head to our events page!
