No. 10: International day of Women and Girls in Science

To celebrate International day of Women and Girls in Science on 11th February, Stemettes joined the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, and Helen Grant MP via video call to Downing Street. Stemettes had the opportunity to tell the Prime Minister why STEM is important to them and make gliders.

“Joining the Stemettes session with the Prime Minister and Helen Grant was an incredible experience. It was great to hear that they both value the impact that women in science is having and that we had the chance to tell them what STEM means to us. Being able to show them the awesome things we do with Stemettes was fabulous too.

“Being chosen to be part of this event made me feel really special, and a bit nervous, because I felt I was representing all the girls who are my age and like STEM.” – Abigail, age 12

The girls on the call were incredible ambassadors for Stemettes and women in STEM, showing the Prime Minister their enthusiasm and passion for STEM. They had the chance to ask him questions and discuss why it’s so important to have women in STEM. Stemettes couldn’t be prouder!
