During Coronavirus lockdown we’ve been reminiscing about our Stemettes Future Summit. Our summits took place in both Chester and London in July 2019, and we hosted 200 attendees. On 13th July we hosted our second summit in London. We invited 150 girls and split them into under 8s, 8-12 and 13-18 year old groups.   Day-long event to inspire and equip girls and young women for technical careers across academia, industry and entrepreneurship. On July 11th 2019, in partnership with Bank of America we hosted the first Stemettes Future Summit in Chester. We were joined by 50 girls from local schools, including the Catholic High School Chester and Co-op Academy Bebington. Stemettes teamed up with Post Office on the 26 July to deliver a Hack London event. Girls aged 5-21 were invited to create their own app, with no previous coding experience required. We took over the Post Office Headquarters where our girls (and a few boys too) used Appshed, Appinventor and Glitch to build their applications.  Attendees rated the event a wonderful 9 out of 10. 97% of attendees shared that they would like to come again. 98% of attendees stated their confidence in STEM has improved. 7/10 attendees stated they would like a career in either STEM category. Way way back in mid October we were literally placed ‘centre stage’ at London’s first Technopop festival to run our Autumn / Ada Lovelace hackathon. Our sponsor, Intent Media are new in the UK and so we had agreed to break from the norm of running our events at STEM company offices and were surrounded by 3D printers, an racing car and Science dance session run by our friends at FLUX dance theatre.
