Stemettes hosted a series of online events featuring inspirational talks about STEM at four different schools across the UK: Harris Girls’ Academy East Dulwich, Millburn Academy, North Ormesby Primary Academy, and Rushden Academy. The events were attended by 265 young people and non-binary persons, with 75% saying they want to take part in another Stemette event. Events ranged from talks from Stemettes alumni about their journey in STEM to sessions with aviation professionals sharing their experience. In December, Stemettes and the Department for Transport hosted a two day Christmas event focussed on aerospace and science. It included a panel talk and activities for groups to design a product or business idea relating to aerospace, with the chance to present these ideas on the second day. The event consisted of three streams: 7 to 11, 12 to 15, and 16 to 18 year olds. With the pandemic leaving half-term holidays looking very different this year, Stemettes stepped in to put on 2020 October Explore. It was a free and fun-filled 3-week event, partnering with industries like cyber security, mining and insurance. Weeks one and two offered six online and Instagram Live sessions for Stemettes to learn something new, try activities and meet STEM role models. Each session was followed by speed networking. During Coronavirus lockdown we’ve been reminiscing about our Stemettes Future Summit. Our summits took place in both Chester and London in July 2019, and we hosted 200 attendees. On 13th July we hosted our second summit in London. We invited 150 girls and split them into under 8s, 8-12 and 13-18 year old groups.   Day-long event to inspire and equip girls and young women for technical careers across academia, industry and entrepreneurship.
