As a Buying and Merchandising apprentice at Amazon, you’ll gain a vast range of useful experiences and skills, whilst working towards the Buying and Merchandising Apprenticeship qualification.

This role will require you to collate, distribute and analyze sales and performance reports, identifying trends, trading patterns and highlighting anomalies. You will communicate and escalate findings appropriately. You will also work collectively as a team to contribute to the delivery of department/company sales and profit targets.
 

Buying and Merchandising apprentices will assist the Vendor manager team in developing and executing all aspects of their category strategy; building customer centric selection, pricing and promotions, cost-effective buying and inventory planning, coordination of marketing and merchandising activities. Your responsibilities will also include:

• Maintaining buying system data input and integrity
• Vendor co-ordination on new product setup, samples and availability
• Root causing and resolving defects
• Owning reporting and customer insight to identify trends
• Auditing implementation and building autopsies.

 

As a buying and Merchandising Apprentice, you will learn to deliver a world-class customer experience. The person who joins the team in this position must share our passion and commitment for serving our customers. You will collaborate with all retail teams across supply chain, product management, operations and marketing to drive process improvement and deliver operational excellence.
You will build your skills over a 24-month period, starting in July, which will help you develop personally and professionally. Your apprenticeship will be made up of;

• Classroom/virtual based training to cover knowledge
• On-the-job training at your Amazon base location
• Online learning
• Mentoring from our experienced team members

Alongside extensive development of your technical skills, you will also grow your abilities in crucial complementary areas like organization, prioritization, data and problem-solving techniques, teamwork, communication, presentation skills and document writing.
 

You will work alongside the team, supporting with day to day tasks learning how Amazon works and delivers for its customers. As your knowledge and skills increase over the duration of the scheme you will have opportunities to be part of and lead projects, making a difference for customers. The on the job experience will help you build a portfolio of evidence towards your apprenticeship. You will be given dedicated time to focus on your studies to help you stay on track and work towards successfully completing your qualification(s). Once you have successfully completed your Buying and Merchandising Apprenticeship you will be able to apply for relevant roles across the business.

You will attend a number of workshops across the duration of the apprenticeship, workshops will be a mix of face to face and online delivery by a training provider. You will also attend internal workshops/ trainings to support you in developing Amazon related skills and knowledge. Depending on the scheme and location of the training provider you may be required to travel and stay overnight. (costs will be supported by Amazon)
 

Key job responsibilities

You will be combining working in your assigned team as a Buying and Merchandising Apprentice whilst continuing your studies to achieve your qualification. As a working student your focus is to complete your studies in your 20% off the job time by learning and developing your skills, knowledge and behaviors to work towards successful graduation. You will be set objectives and goals by your training provider and manager to support your studies.

About the team

Amazon is the perfect place to start your career in Buying and Merchandising. In this role, you can work across a number of teams in Amazon Fashion, Amazon Fresh, Consumables etc. working with managers where they help deliver big or small projects in the fast-growing teams successfully.
 

Basic Qualifications

What are we looking for?

  • Candidates should be 18 years or over before the start date and have the right to live and work in England
  • For the apprenticeship program we prioritize applicants eligible to government funding for their apprenticeship and for this you need to:
  • Have lived in the UK or in the European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 years
  • Be a resident of the UK for the entire duration of the program
  • Not be registered to study on a UK government funded course ending June 2023 or later
  • 5 x GCSE’s at grade 4-9 (A-C) or above (or equivalent) including Maths and English

Please note, you will be required to evidence your qualifications. If you have gained qualifications outside of the UK you will be required to evidence that they are equivalent.

Note: This Apprenticeship assumes the candidate has some or little knowledge/ experience of the occupation, and is NOT suitable for candidates who already have a similar or higher-level qualification in the same or similar subject of the apprenticeship. Preferred Qualifications

These will be a plus for your career at Amazon, but are not necessary to enter the program:

· You are able to operate in a fast paced environment
· You are able to demonstrate drive and a passion for learning

Your recruitment process will start with your online application. You’ll be asked to upload your CV, answer some questions that will help us to ensure your eligibility for the programme and finally you’ll complete a short online assessment.

To get to know you beyond your CV, the second stage of the process will be our online evaluations. You’ll complete 3 video questions to tell us more about you, your motivations and any transferrable skills you have. If you’re applying for a technology-based apprenticeship you may also be asked to complete a short technical/coding test.

As a last step, we will invite successful candidates to an assessment center where you’ll get the chance to meet the recruitment team and the hiring teams that align to the programme you have applied for. As part of the assessment centre, you may be expected to take part in a group exercise, a presentation, 1 to 1 interviews and other tasks relating to your chosen programme. After you’ve attended the assessment center, the recruitment team will be in contact to confirm the outcome of your application.
