Roles across London, Manchester/Greater Manchester, and Cheltenham

We’re GCHQ, the UK’s intelligence, cyber and security agency. Working closely with our partners in the intelligence community, we protect the nation’s people, interests and businesses from threats including serious and organised crime, terrorism, and cyber-attacks. It’s varied, meaningful work that you won’t find anywhere else.

Now, we’re looking for creative thinkers to join us. You’ll apply your expertise to projects unique to our organisation and develop new skills along the way. Your insights will be valued, and your ideas encouraged, as we work together to protect the UK.

Some of the roles we’ll be recruiting for include:

Trainee Software Engineers

You’ll be part of an Agile team, tackling real-world problems with a variety or technologies including JavaScript, Java, C++, Node, Python, to name a few. Working with, and learning from, talented experts, you’ll get the opportunity to make a difference to the nation, while you develop a wide range of skills in this entry-level role.

You’ll be comfortable developing software features and ideally have knowledge of Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP). Plus, you’ll use your experience to contribute to the wider software engineering community.

Senior Software Engineers

Using a range of software engineering methods, you’ll lead a team who are working to solve mission problems, while making strategic contributions and ensuring best practice. And whether you’re reviewing pull requests or defining review, branching and deployment strategies, you’ll assist key projects, influencing the wider engineering community.

Lead Software Engineers

As well as leading an Agile team, you’ll help to shape our ways of working. Collaborating with technical and non-technical customers, you’ll contribute to large-scale projects. All the while, you’ll use your extensive experience to support others to develop and further their potential.

Whether you’re just starting out in your career or looking for a new challenge, we’re looking for self-motivated problem solvers with a genuine passion for technology. And with the support of our tailored training, you’ll push your inquisitive mind. Plus, with our smart working patterns, you can live your life in a way that suits you.
