Advice From 5 Women in STEAM

Advice STEAM

Who doesn’t love a good bit of advice? We’re sharing some of our favourite tips we’ve gathered across the years, and we’re sharing them with you to celebrate International Day of Women and Girls in Science in 2024!

Be Proud

We always talk about where we want to be in 5 years, but rarely look back and see where we have come from. What would your younger self have thought about what you are doing now? – Sarah Grindall, Head of Platform Delivery at NewDay

Get Stuck In

Exploring something outside of your career or comfort zone is never a wasted opportunity. It’ll give you a focus outside of work and you never know where it’ll lead to. Whether it’s rugby or reading, gaming or gardening, get stuck in. And enjoy! – Software Engineer at MI5

Be Unique

You don’t have to choose between specializing in art or science. You can leverage your artistic abilities to navigate through your STEM fields. After all, the world requires individuals with varied interests to tackle its most complex problems. – Angela, a graduate trainee at Wellcome Trust

Take The Pressure Off

Do not put the pressure of perfection on yourself. Aim for excellence and be content with improvement. – Phebe, Research Technician at Imperial College London

Bring Joy

ALWAYS bring joy, life is better that way! – Jacqui, Head of HR and Recruitment at MMT Digital.
