In 2023, the global engineering workforce was made up of only 13.7% women.
This statistic was unsettling to me and gave rise to a number of questions. Why do we have a gender disparity in a field as vital as engineering? How can we accept a world where women are still so underrepresented in engineering? This disparity still exists in the 21st Century despite all the progress we have made towards equality?
As an aspiring Queengineer myself, I believe that every girl out there with a passion for problem-solving, creativity, and innovation deserves a place to shine. But how can they—without female role models in engineering fields to look up to?
Don’t worry, that’s exactly why I created Queengineers: a platform committed to inspiring more young girls into engineering.
