Meet Marcella
Marcella Araica is an American recording and mixing engineer, who has recorded and mixed tracks for artists including Britney Spears, K Michelle Madonna, Pink, Duran Duran and Keri Hilson.
Head back to 2010 and you might recognise some of Marcella’s biggest work. She has mixing and recording credits for…
- “Gimme More” by Britney Spears
- “The Way I Are” by Timbaland
- “Migrate” by Mariah Carey
- “We Takin’ Over” by DJ Khaled
- “When I’m Gone” by Simple Plan
- “The Valley” by Duran Duran
“Mad scientist when I’m in the studio”
Marcella graduated from the Full Sail Production and Recording Program in Florida in 2002 and then started her professional career as an assistant at the Hit Factory later that year.
She describes how it was difficult breaking into a male-dominated career,
“As a female, I had more to prove.”
As she was finding her feet in the industry, she worked as an assistant engineer for Timbaland and Missy Elliott. She then went on to become a full-time engineer at the studio, and she continues to work closely with Timbaland.
