3‑Month Paid 360 Internship Programme (3 roles available)

About Stemettes

We’re Stemettes. An award-winning social enterprise working to engage, inform and connect the next generation of girls, young women and non-binary people into Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM). We run a variety of programmes, workshops, and events that are designed to make STEAM accessible and relatable to young people who are typically underrepresented in these fields.

You’d be working within a fully hybrid organisation located across the UK, including freelancers and admins who ensure the smooth running of Stemettes interventions and outreach work.

  • Contract: 3‑month paid internship (contractor basis)
  • Working pattern: 4 days per week (Monday–Thursday), 7 hours per day
  • Pay: £14 per hour
  • Location: Hybrid (mix of remote work and in‑person days in London; some travel to events is required)
  • Flexible start date: Indicative dates are 27 April 2026 – 27 July 2026, but we can discuss alternatives
  • Line management: You will be supported by a dedicated Line Manager who will provide consistent guidance and oversight throughout the duration of your internship.
  • Events: If you support evening or weekend events, you can choose paid overtime or time off in lieu

 

About the Internship

We’re offering three paid, 3‑month internships for young people who want to gain hands‑on experience in the youth and charity sector. Your time will be split equally across our Delivery, Accounts, and Networks Hubs. You will rotate through one hub at a time, providing a focused 360° experience of how each part of our charity innovates on a day-to-day basis.

Delivery Hub

✓ Support the planning and delivery of youth programmes, workshops and events (online and in‑person).
✓ Help prepare session materials, resources and logistics.
✓ Assist with collecting feedback from young people and partners, and recording this in our systems.
✓ Contribute ideas to keep our programmes engaging, inclusive and accessible.

Accounts Hub

✓ Help coordinate communication with volunteers.
✓ Assist with simple data entry and creating impact reports.
✓ Assist in partner relationship management.
✓ Help coordinate donation campaigns.

Networks Hub

✓ Help coordinate communication with alumni and supporters.
✓ Draft and schedule social media and newsletter content to promote our work (with guidance).
✓ Support outreach and research to grow our networks, including schools, youth organisations and community partners.
✓ Assist with maintaining contact lists and updating our CRM or shared tracking tools.

Other Tasks

✓ Attend and support in‑person and online events, helping with set‑up, sign‑in, and general coordination.
✓ Join internal team meetings, sharing ideas and reflections from a youth perspective.

You’re likely to be someone who:

  • Communicates clearly and respectfully, both in writing and in person
  • Has good attention to detail and is willing to double‑check their work
  • Is proactive and comfortable using their initiative when appropriate
  • Enjoys working with others and is a supportive team member
  • Is interested in youth work, community, and/or the charity sector
  • Is passionate about STEAM learning
  • Is open to learning, feedback and trying new things.

During the internship, you will:

  • Build practical experience across our three Hubs: Delivery, Accounts and Networks.
  • Develop transferable skills such as organisation, teamwork, communication and time management.
  • Complete safeguarding training and gain experience of working to youth‑sector standards.
  • Have the chance to reflect on your next steps in education, work or training.
Safeguarding and pre‑employment checks

We are committed to the safeguarding and well-being of the young people we work with. This role is offered subject to an enhanced DBS check. ​​While standard staff undergo full safeguarding training, interns will participate in a specialised safeguarding briefing with our Safeguarding Lead during their first two days in post to ensure they are fully supported and informed. You must work within our safeguarding policies, codes of conduct and supervision structures at all times.
