STEM Mode In @ Anglo American & De Beers Group

As part of the STEM mode in series, Stemettes teamed up with Anglo American and De Beers Group for 3 events celebrating International Women’s Week.

On Monday 8th March, Samantha Sibley joined our MealPlan session. The event was attended by 31 females and non-binary people aged 7-11 years old. In the session, they were able to join a Q&A with Samantha and take part in an activity designing diamonds.

 

What did attendees think?

  • 100% felt their awareness of STEM career options had improved
  • 89% felt their confidence in their STEM abilities had improved
  • 100% felt their knowledge of STEM had improved

 

 

“I loved learning that diamonds come in different colours, it was lovely to hear about De Beer nature conservation initiatives too and it was fun designing jewellery.”

 

The second session was a panel event featuring four STEmazing role models from Anglo-American and De Beers. They discussed their careers, and their journey in STEM and gave insights into the industry. Stemettes had the opportunity to ask questions and get advice from the panel, with 646 live views across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

The final session was an Instagram Live Q&A hosted by Siobhan Grafton and Tracey Kerr, which gained 810 Live views. Stemettes tuned in to hear about their career development advice, and soft skills tips and to ask them questions.
