Week 10 was Pooja Godhania week!
We ran our Monday Meal Plan on Tuesday this week due to the bank holiday. 21 attendees tuned in to follow along with our Stemillions Activity Pack (aka Meal Plan) based on Pooja Godhania. Pooja is a STEMazing civil engineer. Event Stemette Charlotte hosted an activity that encouraged the girls to look into the future. Inspired by Pooja’s great work in the engineering field, attendees were asked to design a road for the future. They had to consider what transport may look like and how a greener world might affect engineering. The girls had some amazing designs to show during the show and tell.

When we asked the attendees what they enjoyed most about the session they said:
“I enjoyed designing roads and cars because it was very appealing to be little engineers and designers today. Thank you to all the Stemettes for the extremely fun lesson.”

On Wednesday, 38 attendees joined Core Stemette Jazmin as she hosted Marta from Abbey Road Studios – the most famous recording studio in the world and a global music icon. Marta gave the attendees an insight into the infamous recording studio and the importance of STEM within it. She also explained more about her role and the different musical engineers she is surrounded by at work. There was a quiz at the end of the interactive lecture and the girls did well at absorbing all of the information that Marta packed in.

148 folks tuned into this week’s Friday Live session, hosted by Head Stemette Anne-Marie. Anne-Marie was joined by two STEMtastic Science role models, Dr Sophie Arthur (Soph Talks Science) and Stemette Alexandria Sterling. Dr. Sophie Arthur is a stem cell biologist turned science communicator and digital communications creator. She loves to share science on her blog and social media platforms. Alexandria has just finished a BSc in Chemical Physics at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. The two role models gave us an insight into what it is like to study science and to work in the field. They gave lots of research and career tips and took questions from the eager audience. The attendees left great feedback too.
