This post has been written by Khadeeja, 15 who is currently doing her GCSEs and attended our Outbox 2020 programme that ran throughout August 2020. For the first 2 week of August, I joined a huge number of like-minded STEMettes on the Outbox 2020 programme. Each morning, we were joined by a number of STEMazing role models, who talked us through their journey into their industries, while others were based around important, relevant topics, such as the development of sustainable fuels to use in our homes and cars. These talks gave us all a great insight on how we ourselves […]

We partnered with TD Securities for a week-long Leadership Academy running from 22nd – 26th June 2020 for girls and non-binary people aged 16 or over. A total of 158 unique young people attended the events over the week! This was our first ever virtual academy, ran entirely on Microsoft Teams which meant that we had a global reach and were able to welcome loads of young women to the events. Each day had a different theme, and we closed the academy with a graduation ceremony and mini panel with TD Securities role models on Friday. After each one hour […]

What’s more fun than using apps? Making your own. Over the weekend of 9th & 10th September 2017 we descended on Cornerstone OnDemand’s central London offices for an app hackathon – Cornerstone App Hackathon. Lorraine, 9, said: I was really looking forward to my fourth Stemette event because I was actually going to build my own app. It was at Cornerstone’s offices in London and I was sooo excited I just couldn’t wait to get there as we had travelled in from Essex. I recognised a lot of people from the last Hackathon and couldn’t stop smiling. I got to […]

This blog post has been written by Hannah Phillips, 20 who attended the event, is an Outbox Incubator alumnus. She is the founder of 4wardz and writes regularly on Hannahs Heartbeat. On Thursday 28 January, Stemettes spent a day working with 1,800 girls across the UK at simultaneous events in Manchester, London, Newcastle, Dublin and Edinburgh. I was lucky enough to help out and spent my time in Manchester, with two of the Stemettes girls. We travelled up on the Thursday afternoon and whilst I painted my nails, my co-workers reviewed their plan of action together (I was there for moral support). We […]

It’s funny how, when something is gone, it doesn’t always mean that it’s actually physically gone. It doesn’t mean that you don’t have the memories, that when you sit in the place where it once was, you can’t still feel it in the air. I’m sitting in the Outbox Incubator house. It is empty. The beds are empty. The fridge and kitchen cupboards are empty. It is empty of laptops. It is empty of Outbox execs. And it is silent for the first time in 6 weeks. But everywhere we look, as the team sits around, we can see groups […]
