How are children kept safe in these sessions?

We have a Stemettes Safeguarding policy that we strictly adhere to across all of our programmes and events. All sessions are moderated by DBS-checked NSPCC trained members of Stemettes staff.

Are Weeks 1 and 2 only for Scottish people?

No. The Scottish half-terms are different, so these sessions have been put on in order for our LassiesinSTEM to have a good STEM experience over their half-term.

I’m in Scotland, can I join Week 3 of Stemettes Explore?

Schooling and College are very important so we’d only like you to join Week 3 if your education timetable allows you to join us at the times of the sessions.

What if I’m 15-18 but don’t want to join the Academy, and gain a Cyber qualification?

If you joined our Outbox Academy and did the certification already, or if you just don’t want to do a Cyber certification, that’s totally fine.
You can still be a part of the Academy, but join the morning Connect session and sit out of the group study session.

What if I’m over 18 but want to do the Cyber certification?

If you’re 18 or over and would like to do the Cyber certification then let us know on your application form. You can join the morning Academy lectures and afternoon Academy group work, but not the afternoon Academy networking (you join the lates Networking sessions instead).

I did the Cyber certification during 2020 Outbox Academy, can I join Explore Academy?

It’s the same certification and you’ve already passed it, so no. We’d suggest choosing Connect or Lates to join in with.

What is the Cyber certification?

It’s the Cisco Networking Academy ‘Introduction to Cybersecurity’ badge. We’ve teamed up with the Open University to be able to provide it for free.

This initiative is part of DfT’s Reach for the Sky Programme.
