A note on Safeguarding
We take the safety of our community and young people very seriously. This programme will ensure safety and safeguarding throughout – via the use of training, DBS checks, and a locked secure online platform. Our safeguarding policy is available online and has been central in the planning of Outbox 2021. We want our young people to be safe at all times, so this programme will be heavily supervised by our team – attendees will always be in a virtual room with our moderators as well as any industry volunteers.
Any attendees aged 16 or under will need the permission of a responsible Parent or Guardian to participate in the programme fully, beyond watching sessions.
We also take inclusion very seriously, so will be providing the necessary materials for any young people who do not have regular access to a device connected to the internet. We want all sorts of young people to be able to build careers in STEM, no matter the resources they have at home.
The Instagram sessions are open for anyone to join, so you can watch & participate without applying for the programme!
If you have earned an Entry-Level Python Programmer Certification with us before then unfortunately, you won’t be able to apply for this sprint again. Why not apply for our Cybersecurity certification instead?
If you’ve obtained an Introduction to Cybersecurity Certification with us on a previous programme, you’ll be able to attain an alternative Cybersecurity Essentials qualification with us in the last week of August (week 4).
Yes! Although we won’t be able to help you with a laptop or data package.
For Outbox 2021, you must be able to commit to 1 full Sprint (2 weeks). Recordings will be available for any morning sessions you miss but you must complete feedback for that session for your attendance to be counted.
For Academy applicants, if you have already obtained an Introduction to Cybersecurity certification with us before, you may only attend week 4 of Sprint B, or Sprint A (Python).
Don’t worry if you cannot commit to a full sprint, you can still join us at 4 PM BST for our Instagram Lives.
