Stemettes use the acronym STEAM - the A is added to represent Arts - this refers to skills such as critical thinking, design thinking, collaboration, communication and problem-solving. These skills assist STEM learners/employees to be more innovative and solve problems

We work with girls, young women and non-binary young people from 5-25 years old.
We deliver a range of impactful events from mentoring programmes to hackathons, in-school events, certification academies and panel events. We run a range of different events all throughout the academic year and school holidays. We also run events at weekends.
We will provide you with a Volunteer Brief to help you recruit volunteers - this includes what to expect on the day, the different roles available, and online training. Volunteers will receive a briefing on the day of the event and Stemettes will run each activity and provide support for your volunteers.
No, while we work to highlight diverse role models working in STEAM we encourage allies to be involved in our events. However, there are some volunteer roles which are limited to women and non-binary folks - these include mentoring, keynote speakers and panellists.
