We’re looking for someone who’s outgoing, can uplift young voices, and bring everyone into the action. Strong at connecting with people? Especially under-engaged young people? Then you’re exactly who we need! We are looking for freelancers to work on our upcoming virtual, hybrid & physical programmes as workshop facilitators.

Stemettes is a supportive and game-changing team. We regularly interact with industry leaders, influencers, and media around the world. WorkshopStemettes will have the opportunity to join us in these interactions. We are seeking someone with an equally high degree of passion and proactivity.

We are welcoming applicants with weekday and weekend availability. You must also be willing to travel around the UK. We are committed to intersectionality and inclusivity, so we welcome candidates of all backgrounds and genders.

 

Responsibilities

✓ Supporting young women and non-binary people in STEAM, empowering them to make informed choices
✓ Setting up resources before attendees arrive
✓ Registering attendees on the day
✓ Encouraging attendees with their ideas
✓ Facilitating group discussions
✓ Capturing content for social media
✓ Travelling to and from venues across the UK, with travel expenses covered

Qualities

✓ Outgoing persona to inspire, encourage, and include young participants
✓ Basic understanding of the STEAM industry
✓ Strong work ethic
✓ Demonstrable ability to multitask
✓ Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with under-engaged girls

  • You will report to School Stemette and will not directly manage other members of staff.
  • Dates will be pre-agreed, and Workshop Stemettes will typically be given a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice ahead of running workshops.
  • The overall contract will be in line with experience and capabilities, reflecting Stemettes’ charity status and expectations from our partners.
  • You will be mostly on-site but may also work from home for our digital events.
  • We pay £14-£17 per hour, depending on your experience and the roles you undertake.
