Got Questions About STS Mentoring?

FAQs for Mentees

The application process is very straightforward! Fill out our application form, then you’ll be invited to book a 20-minute call with us. During the call, you’ll meet a member of TeamStemette who will ask you a few questions about your motivations for joining STS. You’ll also learn more about the programme and have a chance to ask questions. Following the call, you will then start our onboarding process. This involves a short form for more information, consent from a parent or guardian if you’re under 18, and online training (this takes around 1 hour and can be completed whenever suits you).
Speed Matching is an online event where you can speak to lots of our mentors. Every few minutes, you will meet new mentors and have a chance to ask them questions. You will score the mentors from 1-5 in terms of how much you would like to be matched with them. We will use these scores to pair everyone up.
Yes! All our mentors have STEM backgrounds. Our mentors come from a wide range of industries including engineering, tech, healthcare, finance and education. No matter who you are paired with, we hope that the programme and your mentor will give you a greater insight into different careers, increase your professional skills and boost your confidence.
If you can’t attend our Speed Matching events, that is not a problem, just let us know! We will then use your application and the information you have already provided to match you with a suitable mentor.
Student to Stemette is open to young women and non-binary people in the UK between the ages of 15-25 with an interest in STEM or STEAM.
