Meet Dr Rose Amal

Engineering

Amal was born in Medan, Indonesia. After finishing high school, she moved to Australia in October 1983. She completed a Bachelor of Engineering at the University of New South Wales. Here, she specialised in Chemical Engineering. In 1991, she received her PhD in Chemical Engineering.

Her work varies spanning from fundamental Chemistry, Material Science and specialised Photochemistry. She has also worked on fine particle aggregation, photocatalysis and nanoparticle synthesis. Dr Rose studies how these areas can help contribute to environmentally friendly fuels. Currently, her focus is on the use of nanomaterials for solar power applications. As well as their use for energy conversion.

Over the span of her 15-year career, Dr Rose has written over 450 publications. Collectively, they have been cited about 11,700 times.
