Mentors provide 1:1 mentoring for career guidance and development. Across the 4-month programme, mentors will spend 8 hours providing advice and insights, and leveraging their professional networks to inspire their mentees. In 2024, mentors provided 2600 hours of mentoring!
Panellists share their professional and personal journeys as women or non-binary individuals in STEAM, offering insights into their careers, challenges, and successes. So, along with other panellists, you will be answering questions curated around the event theme. This is a chance to inspire others and connect with a diverse audience. Panellist roles are available for Panel and STEAM Goals events.
Session leads conduct dynamic independent workshops, combining interactive talks with hands-on activities, centred around a topic from their field. Leads play a crucial role in inspiring curiosity and fostering various skills in young people. Lead roles are available for Explore, Stemettes Certification Academy, and Stemettes Leadership Academy events.
Keynote Speakers deliver the opening speech, aligned with the event’s theme and their expertise. As a keynote speaker, you set the tone for the event and engage participants by sharing your story, highlighting industry trends, and encouraging exploration of STEAM careers. Thirdly, speaker roles are available for panels, Hackathons, Stemettes Certification Academy, and Stemettes Leadership Academy events.
A Speed Networker offers focused career advice to event participants in a fast-paced networking session. Volunteers will rotate between groups of participants, answering specific questions about their industry, organisation, and personal career journey. Speed Networker roles are available for Explore, Panel, and STEAM Goals events.
Judges assess and decide the winning projects presented at event showcases, based on predetermined criteria. Judges review participant submissions in response to an initial problem/challenge set according to the event theme. Judge roles are available for Hackathon events.
Group Work volunteers support participants by helping them ideate, plan, and execute their project solutions. Specific technical knowledge of tools is not mandatory; volunteers can provide guidance, encouragement, and problem-solving. A group work volunteer role is available for Hackathon and Stemettes Certification Academy events. 263 volunteers got involved in our STEAM Season events in 2024!
Packing support volunteers help with essential behind-the-scenes tasks that keep our events and programs running smoothly. In this role, you will be preparing materials, organising equipment, and helping us pack goody bags/ teaching resources and boxes for our Stemillions clubs and after-school programmes.
