Meet the Stemettes @ Roche

On 13 October, Stemettes partnered with Roche to celebrate Ada Lovelace Day! Young women and non-binary folks were invited to join a virtual panel and networking session with the theme of science. Participants had the opportunity to listen to role models at the panel talk and ask them questions during networking.

The panel was joined by 40 people on Streamyard, with 10 joining the networking afterwards. The session recording has had over 170 views since it was uploaded on YouTube!

Participants rated the overall event 8.79 out of 10 and 100% would attend another Stemettes event.

  • 100% of participants felt their perception of STEM increased
  • 100% of participants felt their awareness of STEM career options increased
  • 100% of participants felt their knowledge of STEM increased

Very interesting to see the panellists talk enthusiastically about their careers and their advice to us as young people” – panel and networking participant

Participants reported that getting to know more career paths, improving confidence, and making connections were unexpected benefits of the event.

Their favourite parts of the event were the advice from role models and the variety of role models. Coming up with interesting questions and ‘work lingo’ were the parts they found most challenging.

Thank you to everyone who took part, the volunteers, and the STEMazing role models for sharing their STEM journeys.
