Experiences change perceptions!
If they say a picture is worth a thousand words then a career experience is worth a thousand pictures. Think about it, you cannot strive to achieve something that you know little to nothing about. If we want to encourage more young women to choose STEM career paths we need to ensure they explore that STEM-lifestyle first for themselves.

Special Thanks
My special thanks go to Grant. Thank you very much for providing me with this great experience. It has helped me a lot and I now feel I understand how your working life is and what it takes. My knowledge of STEM careers has increased a lot!
I became more aware that STEM involves creative projects too, such as creating websites – that aspect was more creative than I thought.
Confidence
The skills I became more confident with in my experience with Dow Jones are my communication and presentation skills. Throughout the experience, I met employees with a similar background to me and that made me realise that if they can do it, I can do it too! I’m going to be applying to their graduate scheme and make sure I keep a lookout for more to apply for.

Advice
My advice to a girl who thinks a STEM career is not for her is to try and get an insight first before ruling it out.
The best piece of advice I received on my placement was to be yourself!
Deutsche Bank is supporting us to make these much-needed experiences happen for young women in the UK!
